Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority and Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority Signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (01–03 June, 2026), PNRA HQs Islamabad

A delegation from the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), led by Mr. Claude Nkusi, Deputy Director General (RURA) visited the Headquarters of the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) from 01-03 June 2026 to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of regulatory oversight of nuclear safety and radiation protection.

During the visit, the Rwandan delegation held detailed discussions with senior officials of PNRA on regulatory matters related to nuclear and radiation safety, regulatory infrastructure development, capacity building and human resource development etc. The delegation also visited labs and facilities of PNRA and PAEC.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on "Regulatory Cooperation and Exchange of Information in the Field of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection" was also signed by Mr. Zia Hussain Shah, Chairman PNRA and Mr. Claude Nkusi, Deputy Director General RURA. During the ceremony, High Commissioner of Rwanda in Islamabad and other senior officials of PNRA graced the occasion.

The visit and signing of the MoU mark an important milestone in cooperation between PNRA and RURA. Both organizations expressed their commitment to implement the provisions of the agreement and exploring opportunities for future collaboration to strengthen regulatory capabilities and contribute to the enhancement of nuclear safety and radiation protection at the national level.
