PNRA-IAEA Workshop on “Use of Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) Applications” at PNRA HQs, Islamabad from November 12-16, 2018

PNRA in collaboration with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has organized a workshop on applications of Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) from 12-16 November, 2018 at PNRA HQs, Islamabad under the IAEA TC Project PAK/2007 titled "Strengthening and Enhancing Capabilities of Pakistan's Institutions to Support a Safe, Reliable and Sustainable Nuclear Power Program".

The objective of the workshop is to enhance the capabilities of regulatory body and utility in Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA). This is an important analytical tool for analyzing the safety of a nuclear power plant in case of potential initiating events that can be caused by random component failure, human error, internal and external hazards. The workshop will cover applications of PSA as a tool in risk informed decision making, optimization of technical specifications, graded approach for nuclear power plants inspection program and PSA based evaluation of operational events etc.

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Saleem Zafar, Member (Corporate), PNRA. Three IAEA experts are sharing their experiences through presentations during the workshop. A total of twenty four (24) participants from PNRA and PAEC are attending the workshop.
