A workshop on “National Radiation Emergency Plan (NREP)” has been inaugurated today and is scheduled to be held from 16-20 Oct, 2023 at PNRA Headquarters, Islamabad. The basic purpose of the workshop is to sensitize and strengthen the coordination between the relevant stakeholders in the area of radiation emergency preparedness and response as per the National Radiation Emergency Plan. The said workshop has been inaugurated by Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt. General Inaam Haider Malik, HI (M).
The workshop, hosted by PNRA, have participation from a diverse range of professionals, including disaster management authorities, district management authorities, medical professionals, government representatives, and first responders. The participatory organizations are NDMA, FBR, MOFA, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination, SUPARCO, NHA, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Departments of Govt. of the Punjab/ Sindh, SPD, Civil Aviation Authority, Civil Defence, PAEC, PDMA, Rescue-1122, Islamabad Police, Pakistan Meteorological Department, KRL, NH&MP, and National Institute of Health. This one-week workshop comprises insightful discussions, informative presentations, and hands-on exercises, which will not only collectively contribute to the strengthening of emergency response capabilities in the realm of nuclear or radiological incidents/ accidents but also helps in building a network of individuals and organizations and develop a common understanding on emergency preparedness and response.
