PNRA-IAEA Workshop on "Analysis of Coolant Temperature and Boron Concentration Heterogeneity and its Effect on Pressurized Thermal Shock and Reactivity Insertion" Feb 11-15, 2019 at PNRA HQs Islamabad

PNRA in collaboration with IAEA is organizing a workshop on PNRA-IAEA Workshop on "Analysis of Coolant Temperature and Boron Concentration Heterogeneity and its Effect on Pressurized Thermal Shocks and Reactivity Insertion" from 11-15 February, 2019 at PNRA HQs, Islamabad under the IAEA TC Project PAK/2007 titled "Strengthening and Enhancing Capabilities of Pakistan's Institutions to Support a Safe, Reliable and Sustainable Nuclear Power Program".

The objective of this workshop is to enhance the capabilities of regulatory body and utility in understanding Pressurized Thermal Shock (PTS) and boron dilution transients in a typical Pressurised Water Reactor. The workshop will cover topics on international regulatory practices and requirements, sequences leading to PTS, methodology for selection of transients for PTS, in-vessel thermal mixing evaluations, heat transfer phenomenon and some examples on computation of PTS etc.

Mr. M. Saleem Zafar, Member (Corporate) inaugurated the workshop in which three (03) experts from IAEA will be sharing their experiences. A total of twenty five (25) participants from PNRA and PAEC will be attending the workshop.
