PNRA-IAEA Workshop on Review and Assessment of Low Power and Shutdown (LPSD) Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) of Nuclear Power Plants, 07-10 May, 2018 at PNRA HQs, Islamabad

PNRA in collaboration with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is organizing a national workshop on "Review and Assessment of Low Power and Shutdown (LPSD) Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA)" of Nuclear Power Plants, from 07-10 May, 2018 at PNRA HQs, Islamabad. The objective of the workshop is to enhance the capabilities of participants in the subject area.

Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) is an important analytical tool for ensuring the safety of a nuclear power plant in relation to potential initiating events that can be caused by random component failure and human error, as well as internal and external hazards. Low power and shutdown are important modes of a nuclear power plant and risk associated with these needs to be estimated.

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Mohammad Saleem Zafar, Member (Corporate), PNRA. Three experts from IAEA will be sharing their experience with the participants, during the workshop. A total of 25 participants from PNRA and its different stakeholders are attending the workshop.
